Production Planning Manager
We are currently looking for a Production Planning Manager to join our fast growing, successful, FMCG company. The company supply both private label and branded products to highly successful leading retailers worldwide. We are a highly respected, dynamic cosmetic and skincare company who have seen significant growth year on year. We are manufacturers here in the UK and China with a brilliant design and NPD department.
You will have supply chain responsibility for Production Planning at our Stoke site for our filing of cosmetics, hair care products, skin care products to meet customer demand for our fast-growing company, and to oversee the bulk mixing plan at our facility in Leek to ensure that the bulk is available for filling on time for customer deadlines.
The successful candidate will be responsible for production planning, capacity planning, and scheduling of production following customers’ requirements and requests issued by the Account Managers, and also schedule production for our made to stock (MTS) for AK’s own Brands Glow Hub and Scientia.
・Maintain and run the master filling production schedule for the Stoke site, running daily system report downloads to ensure that the plan is updated daily with any changes, and new orders are captured and planned in.
・Coordinating production workflow for one or multiple products, as well as planning and prioritising operations in a manner that guarantees maximum performance with reduced delays.
・Checking the appropriate inventory levels of raw material, bulks, and manufactured components and finished goods through to customer delivery.
・Working closely with the Factory Manager to ensure optimum productivity and timely completion of orders including ascertaining manpower, equipment and bulk/components needed to cover production demand, and assigning workers and other staff to production operations, and scheduling shift’s/OT according to production needs as and when required.
・Working closely with the cost analysist and Setting routings for all finished goods production.
・Coordinate between the production plan and production sites for on-time delivery of bulks and components stocks.
・Support the resolution of issues such as shortages, internal and external purchase orders and production delays that may affect the on-time delivery.
・Check the Sales tracker for forward capacity to be able to plan and ringfence production until firm order received.
・Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
・Lead the weekly production meeting for both mixing and filling plans to ensure all orders have accurate availability to promise dates.
・Oversee the bulk mixing schedule by working closely with the planning manager at this site to ensure the bulk mix is on time for the filling schedule.
・Working with NPD/Account Managers within in the business for various key accounts on Critical path and creating lead time trackers to ensure that all orders are planned against capacity and dates are confirmed.
・Work closely with the NPD/Account Managers on re-negotiating timescales or schedules, as necessary.
・Run and attend weekly production meetings between both production sites.
・Attend new order handover meetings to run though CP and lead-times.
・Assist in raising work orders though Sage for production, also checking stock allocations.
・Manage a Production team of 3 (2 in Stoke and 1 in Leek).
・Development of KPIs and management reports to support and improve decision making across the relevant functional areas.
・Daily reporting and reporting for the wider business.
・Have a high level of understanding of the supply chain process.
・Have a minimum of 3 years of production planning experience.
・Have a manufacturing background.
・Have a high level of IT - proficient with MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning)/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) tools. They should also have advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
・Have excellent communication both written and verbal.
・Have project management skills, including exceptional communication, leadership, and risk management skills; scheduling, cost management, and task management skills, etc to keep all aspects of the projects on time.
・Have a passion for supply chain excellence and continuous improvement.
・Be able to thrive in a high paced, fast turnaround business.
・Be positive, motivated, ambitious, proactive, with a "can-do" attitude.
・Have experience of MRP/ERP system.
・Have leadership skills to be able to motivate and influence the production team/production towards problem solving with a dynamic approach.
・Experience in the cosmetics industry, or the FMCG industry.
・Business degree or supply chain related qualification, e.g., CIPS/ APICS.
・Sage experience would be advantageous.
