Cost Accountant

An excellent opportunity available for a Cost Accountant to join a fast growing, successful, Knutsford based cosmetics company who supply both private label and branded products to leading retailers worldwide. This position offers excellent prospects for a creative, bright, hardworking and career minded candidate working for a highly respected and dynamic company. You will be an integral part of the team liaising with all areas of the business to support costing amends, product costing and reviewing technical issues. Ensuring that there are proper product costing systems and processes in place within the UK manufacturing activities of the company to provide accurate product costs and product margin. Support operations teams to ensure appropriate processes in place to provide confidence in the accuracy of stock.

You will work closely with the Sales / Merchandising teams, UK Supply & Operations team and UK Manufacturing & Operations team on a daily basis. Potential to support product costing processes for our China manufacturing facilities in the future with expectation of some foreign travel.

You will also work closely with the management accountant to support monthly and year end management accounts. You will be responsible for cost of sales amounting to £12 m plus.
Average value of stocks up to £6m, including raw materials, components and finished goods.

Accountabilities:

Ensure the accuracy of the product costs, including material, labour and overheads.
Liaise closely with the UK Supply Chain & Operations teams and purchasing in validating the ongoing accuracy of bills of materials and material, component and labour costs.
Work closely with the Sales / Merchandising teams to prepare accurate product costing for each customer order and ensure company target margins are attained.
Evaluation of product profitability, including review of expected costs versus actual costs.
Develop and maintain a cost system which accurately reflects the cost of manufacture borne by each product type.
Support the develop and maintenance of controls and procedures to ensure raw materials, components and finished goods movement is properly reflected within inventory management.
Assist in the improvement of processes and process controls to achieve cost savings and efficiencies.

Required skill and experience:
• Qualifications
CIMA, ACMA or similar manufacturing cost and management professional qualification.

• Skills and Aptitudes
Highly numerate, analytical, with a practical approach
to problem solving. IT literate, good communicator.
Experience of Sage X3 desirable.

• Job knowledge
Product costing and manufacturing processes I inventor management systems.


• Experience
A number of years working within manufacturing in packaging, or similar, industry, with extensive experience of costing and inventory systems and their development.
